In the cities like Bangalore, if the police officers can talk to protesters and convince them not to be violent, why it not possible in Mangalore? whoever is responsible for the death of 2 breadwinners should have been suspended immediately. what is the state govt. doing & higher officials are doing?

In my opinion, the Police resorted to firing as the last resort. Lathi charges and tea gas did not bear the desired results and hence The Police had to open fire.

It is a well known fact that presently Mangalore has an excellent Police Force under the leadership of person of name and fame viz. Dr. Harsha. He is reserved but approachable

It is unfortunate that two lives were lost. Hope The Government will arrange to, pay suitable compensation to the bereaved members of the deceased.

Yes... I agree with your comment. Our SP has taken wonderful measures to control the situation during this festive season....otherwise, it would have been out of their hand... Even section is put up outside Mangalore.. even in interior places like kinnigoly...moodbidri.. Thank you police force...congratulations to you Sir Harsha... God bless you... I extend my sympathies to the families of two Muslim brothers who lost their lives. May their souls rest in peace amen...

    Hi Cynthia

There are many wedding or other imp. functions of all communities must have been cancelled.

Hence, your below comment was not required

'' SP has taken wonderful measures to control the situation during this festive season. ''

It gives negative opinion from our community when many people from other community are mourning and stressed.

Rajesh, as far as I know... No religious functions / weddings were cancelled... People attended their respective functions. On the 19th itself, at thokkottu one of our neighbours attended a wedding of their Muslim friends daughter. Around 1,500 was the crowd. Function went on very well. There was christian friends wedding in the night right under one of the five police stations which declared curfew (urwa). That too we attended . Without any problems we all reached our destination in the night safely. People attended religious functions/gone to airports etc etc.. Only thing is busses and autos remained off the road as well as shops were closed. With the valid reasons one was allowed to enter the city. Cars/bikes were plying normally on the highways... So personally, I along with many other appreciate the support and cooperation extended by the police to the public.... We too faced some inconveniences out of fear.....we should adjust and cooperate with the law and order.

    Hi Cyntia

Thanks for update, good to know that most of the Imp. functions took place as usual.
I had read in the news other day as mentioned below hence felt sad and queried.

    Times of India - 21 Dec 2019
Mangaluru: Curfew imposed in city hit several functions such as weddings, other events etc. Some others called off functions.
As per Ocean Pearl Hotel - All the events scheduled on Friday & Saturday have been cancelled by the organizers.

Why compensation to people who are where rioting. Is it for throwing stones at police and destroying public property? It is our hard earned tax money. The politicians are not paying from their pocket.
Curfew should be lifted for Christmas. Any one disturbing peace during the the time should be dealt with seriously. Guns to police is not a showpiece.

Commenting, tweeting and taunting is always easy than to know the ground reality.Everybody knows who is behind all these carnage.Police forces are for maintaining law and order. In order to overcome a difficult situation like this police department has to deploy additional forces, clamp curfew and impose section 144 in order to control the situation, which should not create an unwanted chaos.Co-operating with police in order to maintain law and order in the city is the duty of the civilian public and while doing so if any untoward situations, incidents happen, police forces without any other options opt for firing and lathi charges in order to control the mob by putting their life at risk. That what happened in Mangaluru.Very bad.Even elected representatives are very funny to watch what is going on around the city by watching TV at their respective houses and provocative speeches.Poor innocent people are the one who suffers the most.Even in the case of two deaths of young youths, poor parents are the losers and not the instigators. This protest, unrest was not at all required and it was absolutely uncalled for and unwanted and thereby putting general public in trouble and complete life of the people became standstill. My request is to life the curfew at the earliest possible and allow the people to move freely and ply the vehicles on the road. How many patients, old people, pregnant women, school going students are suffering.Everything is in jeopardy.

CM is requested to ask police to lift the curfew inplaces which it is genuinely not required and facilitate normal life. Imposing curfew is the admission of adminstration that they could not control law and order.n

Imposing curfew is also a type of controlling hooligans.
Police are successful in maintaining law and order because after curfew, there were no untoward incidences.

CM Yudiyurappa knows this time he can't have a flawed report !!
He has burned his hands when he accepted and recommended flawed and biased Justice Somashekara report about church attacks.
Administration's Job is to avoid misunderstanding and instilling confidence in Muslims about the new Law.
