Kundapur, Dec 17: A Karnataka Brahmin conference will be held at Koteshwar Kalavara Varadaraja M Shetty First Grade College grounds by Akhila Karnataka Brahmin Mahasabha. It is the intention of the conference to bring all the Brahmins under one umbrella for the development of society under self-reliance, organization and values.
"Jagadguru Shankeracharya will inaugurate the conference at 10.30 am. The conference president, Neramballi Raghvendra Rao will preside over the programme," said Mahasabha president, K N Venkatanarayana.
Speaking at the news conference held at the spot of Koteshwar conference he said that several discussion forums will be held from 1 pm to 7 pm. Dharmastala Dharmaadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade will deliver his message to the youth. The cultural programme will be held by Alva's group from 7 pm.
A grand procession will be held in the presence of distinguished guests and elite on December 29 from 7.30 am from Kundapur Hangaluru Durgamba bus office to the conference podium on the main road. Special achievers from the state will be felicitated. The programme will conclude at 4 pm. Union minister, Prahlad Joshi will present prizes. Former chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, ministers K S Ishwarappa, V Somanna, MLAs and MPs will be present.
Welcome committee president, Chandrashekar Hebbar said that more than sixty thousand people are expected to receive meals. Accommodation is arranged for those arriving from distant places.
Conference president, Neramballi Raghavendra Rao said that there are backward classes in Brahmins also. Our government should establish the Brahmins development board and deposit Rs 100 crore. Five-acre land should be reserved for them. Priesthood should be upheld.
