Bengaluru, Dec 16: People who have the habit of flagrantly violating traffic rules in the absence of traffic police have to be careful from now on. Because mannequins are being stationed at various places to keep record of their movements.
The police have recently installed mannequins at signals. These mannequins in traffic police uniform have been installed to instil a sense of caution. The police now plan to install high resolution cameras in the eyes of these mannequins. The police, who have tried all methods to regulate chaotic traffic situation in the city, have thought of this novel idea.
Mannequins have been installed at Bannerghatta Road which is located on the border of Hulimavu traffic police station limits, and Gottigere junction. These mannequins costing about Rs 8,000, signal vehicle riders to follow traffic rules from a distance. Some people follow road rules only when there are policemen around. Otherwise they care two hoots about the law. Therefore, the police, who are facing shortage of manpower, have thought of this idea.
It has been planned to install such mannequins in every circle in the city. It is said that each police station would be supplied with five mannequins to manage traffic in a better way.
