Udupi, Sep 8: Member of Parliament D V Sadananda Gowda said that Udupi would emerge number one as far as development is concerned in the next couple of years.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Rs 2 crore worth fourlane constructed from Kinnimulky-Jodukatte and streetlights installed up to Kinnimulky taluk office undertaken by the town municipality with the help of grant released by the state government on Monday September 7. Though inauguration of works at Chamarajanagar and Davangere too has been done undertaken on the same day, Udupi stands first as far as development works such as road widening works, solid waste management and drinking water supply are concerned, he observed.
Project contaractor Kaup Suresh Shetty and Gladys Alvares of Cila Advertisers, who installed street lights were felicitated on the occasion.
Town Municipality president Dinkar Shetty presided. MLA K Raghupati Bhat and Urban Development Authority chairman Sudhakar Shetty were present.
