Mangaluru: GP member dies after falling down from coconut tree

Mangaluru, Dec 16: Dayanand Shetty Padyaramane (65), a member of Amblamogaru gram panchayat near Ullal and retired post office staff, lost his life on Sunday December 15 after falling down from a coconut tree.

Dayanand Shetty had scaled a small coconut tree in his courtyard to pluck tender coconuts. He had slipped and fallen down. In the bargain, he sustained serious injuries. Although he was taken to a hospital at Deralakatte and treated, his life could not be saved.

Shetty had retired from the department of posts five years back. Later, he had fought panchayat election as a Congress candidate for Amblamogaru gram panchayat and had become member of the gram panchayat.

He is survived by wife and four sons.
