Mangaluru, Dec 15: Culprits, who entered the cowshed of Kalyani, a resident of Nadupadavu of Konaje village have stolen four cows in the wee hours of Saturday. Kalyani came to know about the theft only at 5.30 am on Saturday, December 14. She has filed a complaint in this regard with the Konaje police station.

Kalyani's livelihood depends on the milk she gets from the cows. Nearly 42 cows have been stolen from her cowshed so far since 2011. The cow thieves had stolen cows two years ago also from her cowshed. Most of the cows are stolen from the area where they were left to graze. One cow was stolen during the last Deepavali.

Out of the four cows stolen in the wee hours of Saturday, two were pregnant and other two were giving abundant milk. Purushotam, son of Kalyani says that police had brought four accused only once in the last eight years. Otherwise, there is no action or progress seen in the cow theft from their house.

The family has lost five cows in the last two months. Each cow costs around Rs 50,000. Out of these three were about to deliver calves according to the information given by Kalyani. Konaje police and the anti-rowdy squad have visited the spot and conducted an investigation. They also looked into the visuals of the CCTV cameras of nearby areas.
