Udupi: Sr Jacintha Fernandes conferred with 'Florence Nightingale' Award

Udupi, Dec 13: Sr Jacintha Fernandes of the Sisters of Charity organization received the prestigious "Florence Nightingale" award from the government of Karnataka on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at a function held at Vikasa Soudha Bengaluru.

The award is given to the best performing nurses for their notable services. Sr Jacintha Fernandes hails from Nagarmutt, Barkur. She joined the community in the year 1979. She served in Fr Muller's Hospital, Mangaluru, after her final profession in 1986. Sr Jacintha served in Zimbabwe from 1992 to 1999. She procured her BSc nursing degree in the year 1992. Currently she is serving at Solur Bangalore since 2004.

Sr Jacintha Fernandes is known for her notable work among the poorest of the poor.

The award was presented by B S Yediyurappa, chief minister of Karnataka.

    My heartiest congratulations to Sr Jacintha Fernandes as you were conferred with the prestigious 'Florence Nightingale' Award. I know nurses do a dedicated work for patients in hospitals . Even my wife worked for a hospital in New York and so also me in reputed hospital and retired. I very well know how these nurses work very hard irrespective of the time. My hats off to all the nurses all over the world.
