Mangaluru, Dec 12: A well-equipped Rangamandira (theatre) has been the crying need of Dakshina Kannada district since the last several years. In the past, different sites were identified and foundation stones were laid but the project used to stay at that level. After fresh pressure was mounted, the state government has sanctioned Rs 7 crore for the extended part of works for the Rangamandira building being constructed by Kannada and culture department. Out of this, Rs five crore has been released for the project.
The government has also released the balance amount of Rs 3.60 crore required to complete the remaining works of Tulu Bhavana of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy.

For the construction of new Beary Sahitya Academy building, Rs 6 crore has been sanctioned. Out of this amount, Rs 3 crore has been released.
Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president Dayanand Kattalsar, and Beary Academy president Rahul Uchil, have thanked chief minister B S Yediyurappa, Kannada and culture minister C T Ravi, district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, and MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, for their role in sanctioning funds to the academies.
