Mumbai, Dec 9: A man who jumped bail in a housebreaking case was nabbed by the police on Saturday. The accused was absconding since 13 years was found pleading the police to let him go and claiming that the case against him was closed.
While Moinuddin Shaikh (35) now worked as a taxi driver, he was arrested in 2006 for stealing phones and Rs 35,000 from a mobile shop in Bharat Nagar. Although he was released on bail, the court declared him as a proclaimed offender after he failed to attend court trials. His family claimed that they were unaware of his whereabouts since 2006.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of police (zone 8) Manjunath Singe formed a team and monitored Shaikh for five days before arresting him.
Although the police did not have Shaikh's photograph they were successful in tracing him.
