Bengaluru: House built in just 72 hours that lasts three lifetimes

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Dec 2: Unbelievable but true. It is possible to build a house that will sustain three times more than the houses that are built on conventional technology.

Houses that are built with advanced light steel technology have the capability to last much longer. The National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), a self-regulatory body under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, demonstrated such houses on Friday.

According to the council, these houses can be built within just three days. Moreover, according to the council, these houses are exactly the ones that are needed for areas which are prone to natural disasters. This information was given by president of NAREDCO state chapter Sathish Kumar.

The houses will be light in weight and will not cause major damage in case of calamity. The technology used in the construction of these kind of houses is patented already. These are built by Phoenix infrastructure in collaboration with the Society for Development of Composites, a research and development organization, set up by the central and state governments based in Bengaluru.

The frame of the house is built by light gauge steel which is claimed to be rust-free and much stronger than the usual steel. Thermoforming is filled in the frames and concrete is sprayed from inside as well as outside to make walls that are six inch in thickness. The whole process is digitalized.

As no burning of bricks are involved in making these houses, these are considered as environment-friendly. In addition, the water and concrete used is very minimum compared to the building of a conventional house. Sand is almost not used at all.

The main advantage is the speed at which these houses can be built. 20 small houses can be built in a day. This will be a huge plus when there are natural disasters and scores of people are rendered homeless, says an official of NAREDCO.

Government does not have money to build houses for the poor, who have lost their houses in natural disasters. Government has money to do the research and patent the same...!!!!! (Whose money the Government has spent..????)

Government patenting the design and making it expensive for the poor is not acceptable. If the Government has spent money on this research, I want to know whose money they they have spent...????? If the money is of the people of India (None of the politicians spend money from their pocket for the people of India), then why this patenting....!!!!?????????????????????????????? Hope some lawyers who are supposed to give justice on this issue and make the Government to kneel on their knees...!!??

These houses may not withstand the heavy winds and cyclones which are very common nowadays because of Global warming. The light weight steel might expand and contract in the unbearable heat of India and separate from the brick structure that are linked to them. Until it is tested, and proven we should not be building these in large numbers.

That is good to hear. Thanks for enlightening me. Unfortunately I cannot delete the previous comment. An option to embedd the roof with cheap solar panels and an underground filtered rainwater tank will make the house further self sufficient if it is indeed termite and rust proof.

Interesting. It would be helpful for the homeless people if they provide approximate cost to build such houses.

    Great innovation !
Also, may be cost effective, there by saving in lacks being spent on concrete houses.
    Looks very elegant.
