Mumbai, Aug 31: Education committee of metro-based Ganiga Samaj organized a distribution of scholarship programme to the community students at Sri Ramakrishna Mandir, Andheri (East), here recently.
The programme was presided over by Education committee president Vijayendra Ganiga. Deputy secretary Balakrishna Tonse, treasurer Sitaram Marali, Ganiga Samaj president Jagannath M Ganiga, chief secretary B V Rao, samaj vice-president Kutpady Ramachandra Ganiga and former chief secretary Shankar H Bangalore were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Shankar H said that the scholarships to deserving community brethren will give boost to their morale and enable them to excel in their studies. Meanwhile, he urged the community welfare organizations to take moral responsibility for uplifting each and every brethren of community.
Vijayendra Ganiga, in his presidential address said that the community will progress if the needy brethrens were supported with necessary economic assistance. The generosity of affluent members would go a long in helping the poor brethren in their need.
Scholarships were awarded to over 50 students from the community. Condolences were offered to the family of Raghuraj Ganiga, a youth member of Ganiga Samaj who passed away in a recent accident. Financial assistance was also extended to Raghuraj’s wife and for his children’s education.
Secretary B V Rao compered the programme.
