Mangaluru, Nov 30: A gang hacked a young man to death with sharp weapons during late night hours at a bar near Suratkal junction on Friday, November 29. The victim of this savagely act was Sandesh (30) from Guddekopla, Suratkal.
Sandesh was seated along with some friends at a bar behind Jeevantara Wines near Suratkal Junction at around 11 pm on Friday November 29. A gang of local youth, who knew Sandeshi well, kicked up a quarrel with him, it is said. The quarrel escalated in course of time after which the gang suddenly drew out lethal weapons, attacked Sandesh with them, and escaped once he died.

It is said that Sandesh was wearing the customary Mala around his neck for undertaking Sabarimala pilgrimage, and had removed it on Friday afternoon. There is information that the friends who slayed Sandesh were members of an organization with which he was associated with earlier.
Suratkal police who registered a case and questioned several people. In connection with the incident, Raja, Ganesh and Suhail, who have been accused of involvement with this crime, stand arrested.
