Mangaluru, Nov 22: The 'LCS Library Week' was celebrated from November 18 to 22, an occasion created with the hope of reigniting the passion for reading in young minds. The week started with an assembly on Monday which had Jagrithi Shetty of Class 10 talking about the importance of books in our lives.
Principal, Fr Robert D’Souza along with vice-principal, Belita Mascarenhas, librarians, Nandini and Lavina Crasta inaugurated the event in the morning assembly.
The week was filled with numerous activities that helped the students realize the various joys of reading.
A variety of competitions were held too. For classes 4 and 5, bookmark making, book cover making for class 6, poster making for class 7, essay writing for class 8 and 9, for classes 10, 11 and 12 was a book review writing competition. The winning bookmarks, covers, posters, essays and reviews were put up for display on the school lobby bulletin board.
On Friday, was the finale of the library week, which was a colourful and vibrant event. It started with the prayer and an adorable performance by the students of class 5 reciting the library poem. A dance was performed by the students of class 8 that was a visual treat. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition that took place during the week.
Fr principal, in his address, thanked and congratulated the librarians for making the Library Week meaningful and for conducting various literary competitions. He further advised the students to make good use of the library and enhance their knowledge. Daanah Salam compered the programme.
All in all, LCS Library Week was a very successful event that made everyone realize that sometimes all that is needed is a book.
