Udupi, Nov 22: The tiny tots of LKG and UKG of St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady here enjoyed a fun-filled Annual Day.
The day began with the arrival of the chief guest Manjula K, the BEO of Udupi accompanied by Fr Valerian Mendonca, correspondent of the school, Gracian Bothello, secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council of Udupi church, principal Fr Johnson Sequeira and vice-principal Rita Quadros.
The little children of LKG invoked God’s blessings through a melodious prayer song. Ayan Antony D’Souza of UKG C section and Charvi N Salian of UKG A section anchored the formal programme. Deona Sanvi of UKG D section welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering. Usha P, teacher coordinator also formally welcomed the gathering.
Manjula K, chief guest of the day expressed her feelings saying that little children make us forget everything around us. She made the parents introspect the part played by them in the busy schedule of every day and showed concern about over-parenting a child. She also stressed on recognizing the skills in the child to develop and make them useful citizens of the country. She was full of praise for the school’s all-round educational development and teachers’ role in the children.
Fr Valerian Mendonca addressed the audience with words of appreciation for the tiny tots for their bold anchoring and confidence instilled in them by the teachers, recalling his Kannada rhymes he travelled back to his childhood days. He mentioned that the aim of the school is the welfare of every student who stepped into this school and the school must lead them on the right path.
The principal Johnson Sequeira through the annual school report highlighted the various activities and achievements that took place in the school.
Words of gratitude were rendered by Daivik of UKG B section. Dapsy Vaz also proposed the vote of thanks.
The cultural programme on the theme “Melodies of Nature” was anchored by Ashwath of UKG C section and Alisha of UKG A section. The children of LKG and UKG danced to the beats of various tunes, conveying different messages such as save nature, save birds, beauty of nature, beauty in the sun, moon and stars, butterflies, birds and animals, trees and forests. They even enacted a skit on showing kindness and how it will be rewarded in the end.
Ashwath and Alisha concluded the programme with words of gratitude. The programme came to an end with the school anthem.
