Bangalore, Aug 22: Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras celebrated Patronal Feast of St Bernard on Thursday, August 20, duly presiding over the Eucharist at 6 pm at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral. After the mass, a small felicitation function was arranged, after which the archdiocese Board of Education honoured 122 students, who secured 80% and above marks in S S L C examination in the year 2008-09.
Msgr Amritraj welcomed the faithfuls, expressing the gratefulness of the Archbishop. Fr Jayanathan, in his homily, applauded archbishop Moras for being able to lift the lives of the flock he is leading and also of the people of the diocese.
Archbishop Moras thanked for the arrangements made by he Cathedral parish priest, vicar general Amritraj, beautiful choir etc. He was very concerned about the people who are infected and affected by H1N1, Chikungunya and dengue fever, drought in the country, leading to the suicides by the farmers etc., and urged the faithfuls to pray for them in a special way. He also requested the faithfuls to continue praying for the people of the archdiocese, state the nation in general.
A book titled, ‘Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion’, a manual for the Eucharistic ministers in the archdiocese of Bangalore, was released at this juncture by the Archbishop.
The crowd was entertained with a beautiful dance by Mount Carmel college girls and Bishop’s house staff member Alex, by his brake dance.
Albina Vaz and Fr Pinto compered the programme in a befitting manner. Vaz briefed the audience on the life history of St Bernard and stated that the beloved Archbishop too is in the foot steps of the saint, a great devotee of Mother Mary.
Msgr Joseph Francis and Fr Prem rendered vote of thanks. The programme concluded with a fellowship meal at St Germain School.
