Mangaluru, Nov 13: Shree Devi Institute of Technology Kenjar conducted a one-day workshop on Entrepreneurship for Engineering, MBA and MCA students. This programme was conducted in association with ED Cell of VTU Belagavi.
The Entrepreneur Development Programme was basically to enhance the skills of the students who have a dream of becoming an entrepreneur and are eager to learn by becoming a job provider rather than a job seeker.
Several sessions were held on bio-fuels as an area of entrepreneurship as the echelon of discussion amongst the business plans, where students could take up either fuel or for bio-fertilizers which are great in demand.
The bio-fuels that are currently used in VTU campus for all their diesel vehicles has been in great demand for the past four years. Dr Chidananda Gavimath, special officer of VTU and head bio-fuels department deliberated that one liter of bio-diesel is sold in the campus for Rs 50 as a pilot project as the vehicles emit zero pollution. Indeed bio-diesel can be made from Jathropa seeds as well as Pongamia seeds providing an excellent area for mechanical engineering students to take up this as an area of entrepreneurship. He also initiated the significance and importance of creating an incubation center within every college.
His session was followed by a session by Prof Venkatesh- HoD MBA department who presented a topic on the current challenges that entrepreneurs face today and how to overcome those challenges. The topic was discussed in length.
During the inaugural programme, Dr K E Prakash, director Shree Devi Institute of Technology said that students should look up to various role models that have shaped this nation of ours into a performing economy. He also reiterated that one should take up areas that can really help people change their lives.
Dr Dilip Kumar K, principal, Shree Devi Institute of Technology in his welcome address said that students should not undermine their ideas as they get 50,000 plus ideas in a day and few ideas when converted can become a real performing organization.
The participating students were from Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Information Science, Electronics and Communication, MBA as well as MCA departments.
Dr Gayathri Babu introdued the Resource Person and Prof Venkatesh delivered the vote of thanks while Master of Ceremony was Prof Akshathraj Jain.
