Mangaluru, Nov 13: “Self-belief is the key element that separates successful people from everybody else.” said S Nambirajan, additional commissioner of Income Tax, Mangaluru. He asked the students to stay true to themselves and believe in their abilities. Hoisting the sports flag, he inaugurated the sports meet held in the serene atmosphere of Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru. He added, “Human mind is the most powerful thing in the world. If we are able to conquer our mind, then we can go on to conquer anything in the world.”
After the picturesque display of the march past, Prof Ramachandra Bhat, principal, Expert Pre-University College, Kodialbail welcomed the dignitaries and motivated the students to excel in sports as well as studies. He said, “Sports not only ensures physical and mental fitness, but also reduces the diversity among people and brings them together to achieve greatness.”
Sports secretary for boys of the students union Shamanth S Gowda led the march past and conducted the oath taking ceremony.
Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman of Expert Group of Institutions, presided over the function. Ankush N Nayak, director of Information Technology, Deepika A Nayak and Prof Ramachandra Bhat, principal, Expert Pre-University College, Kodialbail, Mangaluru, were present on the dais.
Zita D’Souza, HOD of English department, compered the inaugural ceremony.
The valedictory ceremony was held in the evening with Shreema Priyadarshini, international athlete as the chief guest. She addressed the students and encouraged them saying, “Hard work is the only way to achieve our goals and there are no shortcuts to get there.” She also motivated the students by citing her own journey to success and urged the students to show passion and dedication in their field of study.
The winners of various events were awarded by the dignitaries. Sanjana Kamath Panchmal of Batch D bagged the individual championship for girls. Sahil Uttappa of Batch D bagged individual championship for boys.
Batch C of I PUC won the prize for march past. Batch B of I PUC won overall championship trophy.
Chairman Prof Narendra L Nayak congratulated all the winners and participants of the sports meet. Principal Prof Ramachandra Bhat and Vrashali, president of the Alumni Association and former individual champion were present on the occasion.
Niha Fahim, lecturer in chemistry, compered the valedictory ceremony, while Pramod Kini, the programme director, delivered the vote of thanks.
