Mangaluru, Nov 10: Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj took part in Mangaluru City Corporation election campaign activities in many parts of Suratkal here on Sunday, November 9.
He participated in the election campaign on behalf of Congress candidates namely Prathibha Kulai, seventh western ward; Chandika, eleventh Panamburu Bengre ward; Gayathri Vijay, ninth Kulai ward.
Addressing the reporters, he said, "BJP is getting votes by provoking the feelings of voters. People should vote for Congress candidates to sustain the dream project of J R Lobo and Mohiuddin Bava. Congress leaders are capable of that. In the devolution of funds from central or state finance commission, MCC will get funds. There are have been no developments since the BJP government came to rule. But, Congress will work towards the completion of several projects."
"Now BJP has lost a strong point for collecting votes, the Ayodhya point. BJP has failed to find a permanent solution to the water problem. I and J R Lobo tried to bring Varahi water and orchestrated the release of Rs 300 crores. When Udupi gets Varahi water, there will no problem." He added.
Madhwaraj claimed that our nation’s economic condition was pushed back to 20 years because of GST and demonetization. He pointed out that the GDP growth was declining. "India was first in economic development when Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister, but today it is falling under the reign of Narendra Modi. They did not pay attention to the water problem or providing the public with proper drainage facilities. People need a change of government as I have seen in Coastal part, the people are supporting and encouraging Congress. I have confidence that Congress will win by majority votes," Madhwaraj said.
Further, he claimed that the BJP government only spoke about Kashmir, Ayodhya, Trump, Pakistan and Chandraloka. Instead, the BJP should raise concerns over Baikampady and other local issues in the city. "They do not talk about the construction of roads and houses or the rehabilitation of flood-affected people," he added.
In his visit, Madhwaraj visited houses and requested voters to vote for Congress for a better future. He campaigned in Suratkal, Baikampady, Mukka and other places.
