Mangaluru, Nov 5: Shakthi PU College, Shakthi Residential School and Shree Gopalakrishna Pre-School at Shakthinagar came out with a programme on November 2, to cleanse Shakthinagar and surrounding areas. It was an awareness programme by the students, teachers, parents and the public as well. A Jatha in connection with this was arranged.
Ranjan Bellarpady, the co-ordinator of Swachcha Abhiyana of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru, inaugurated the Jatha and addressed the gathering. He gave a call to the gathering that India is our mother. We have to keep our surroundings very clean which itself is the worship of Shakthi Goddess. He told the students to be pure in thought and action. He said that there should not be any valedictory function for cleanliness. “It must be a routine work and we should be committed to it throughout our life. We have to strive our best to save flora and fauna and thus save environment. Cleanliness should start from our home and afterwards it should spread over to the society, village, taluk, district, state and the whole nation,” he said.
Dayananda Kattalsar, the president of Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy, was the chief guest on the occasion. He said the Almighty will reside in only such place where there is cleanliness. “Therefore cleanliness is Godliness. The God has given us the greatest gift in the Earth and the environment. We have to save them in fact and pass it on to the next generation,” he said.
K C Naik, the managing trustee of Shree Gopalakrishna Temple and Saguna Naik, one of the trustees of Shakthi Education Trust welcomed the gathering. The Jatha, consisting of students, teachers, parents and the public walked up to Kuvempu school and from there they went to eleven important areas of Shakthinagar in batches to clean the places. President of Dattanagar Residents Association H K Purushotham, correspondent of Sannidhya the school for specially abled children Vasantha Shetty, advocate Sumana Sharan, Kushal Kumar, president of Padav Friends club, Vinod Kumar Sanjaya Nagar, Hemalatha, president of Dharmasthala Rural Development self-help association. President of Shiva Shakthi Sangha Suresh addressed the gathering. Addressing the huge gathering K C Naik said that the people of Shakthinagar should join together in making this part of the city a role model one.
Baikady Janardana Achar, administrator of Shakthi Education Trust, Ramesh K, the chief advisor, Prakhyath Rai, institute development officer, Prabhakar G S, principal of Shakthi PU College, Vidya Kamath G, principal of Shakthi Residential School, Neema Saxena the co-ordinator of Shree Gopalakrishna Pre School were present.
The Rickshaw Owners and Drivers Association Shakthinagar, Dattanagar Residents Association, Padav Friends Club, Jnanadeepa Women’s Association, Shree Krishna Bhajana Mandir, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Muthappana Gudi, Shiva Shakthi Friends Circle, Shree Durga Mahamayee Temple, Rama Shakthi Mission, Bala Gokula and volunteers of other associations participated in the awareness programme in large numbers.
