Udupi, Aug 10: Some fifty odd alumni of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) from the 1988 batch went down memory lane on Friday August 7 at the MIT AC Seminar Hall recalling incidents from their time spent as students of Manipal University (MU).
The occasion was to kick-start their two-day get together.
The past students, including a few from overseas, enjoyed every moment of being together as much as the Alumni Cell of MIT enjoyed in presenting it. This meeting is the outcome of a year’s planning and at the end of it on Sunday August 9, they yearned for more.
Welcoming the alumni from across the country and different parts of the world on behalf of the MU, the Registrar Dr G K Prabhu said, “It is definitely a happy occasion for both the alumni and the university. The University encourages such activities by the former students of all the institutions”.
He stressed on how the alumni can come together and work to promote the university at their own levels.
MIT director Brigadier Dr S Mishra, and MIT joint director Dr R Aithal also spoke on the occasion.
MIT Alumni Cell associate director Dr K Jaganath presented a brief synopsis of the MU alumni affairs.
Dr K Kamalaksha was honoured for two decades of service with MIT from 1968 to 1988. Dr V Thomas, a senior to these alumni and a faculty now, was also honoured during the function. The Alumni Cell also honoured some of the support staff who put in over a decade of service.
