Mangaluru, Oct 28: With the theme ‘Integrity - a way life’, a week-long Vigilance awareness programme was inaugurated at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), on Monday, October 28.
Arunangshu Giri, DCP, Law and Order, Mangaluru, inaugurated the awareness week by lighting the lamp. V V Rao, director, MIA and Amith Kumar, deputy commissioner, CISF, MIA, were present on the dais.
In his inaugural speech Arunangshu Giri IPS, said, “Officials have to adopt an open door policy to listen to the complaints and suggestions from people. Once general public comes to know the system of vigilance, it helps in the reduction of illegal activities. Secondly, identification of the pockets of bribe is very important. Through this, officials will get more information about exchange of bribe, corruption and illegal activities. I appreciate Air India Authority, which has taken an initiative to educate people about vigilance. Awareness among youngsters may help reduce the tendency of receiving and giving bribe and other illegal activities.”
V V Rao said, “Mangaluru Airport has one of the best vigilance teams. Secondly, the staff of this airport always gives preference to integrity. To bring awareness in students and youth, we are conducting this vigilance week. As part of this awareness week, we are conducting various programmes and competitions for students and youth. We hope it will give us a good result.”
