Mangaluru, Oct 17: Integral Yoga Santsanga, National Service Scheme and Mangaluru University jointly inaugurated Divyas Student Awards programme at Divyas auditorium, here.
Yogacharya V L Rego who inaugurated the programme said that students should receive education that combines values, service and yoga. “Mangaluru University should take the initiative in that direction and be a model for the entire country,” he said.
Mangaluru University vice-chancellor, Professor Palale Subrahmanya Yadpadithaya who had arrived as chief guest said that values should be stressed in this age when students compete on the basis of marks as those show how one should live.
University NSS organizer, Professor Vinita Rai wishing the students well said that students should pay attention towards care of environment. “Students should create awareness on ban on plastic,” she requested.
Divyas vice-president Shobha Bhaskaran, chief secretary, Nithesh V C, Divyas Academic committee head, Hari Kumar, members Priya Hari, Varun Karkera, Dantesh and Srinivas were present. Ramesh Kumar, Sandeep and Ancil Serrao arrived as judges.
Hundreds of students from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu had arrived to take part in value based education competition programme that will be continued till January 12, 2020.
Programme organizer, Aboobacker Siddik welcomed the gathering. Divyas Moodbidri unit member, Roopa rendered the vote of thanks. Gokarnanath BEd college student Bhavyashree compered the programme.
