Udupi, Oct 16: CPIM conducted a protest on October 15 opposing the increase of economic crisis in the nation and problems faced by the common people due to central government and its new policies. The protest was held near Martyrs Memorial in Ajjarkadu, here.
Shekhar, secretary of CPIM, Udupi district said, "Today, labour class in our country has started to protest in the streets against the central government. The basic facilities for the common people are not provided by the government. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the nation and Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister of the nation, state that there is no drop in the GDP level, but we see a lot of news and reports in the newspaper regarding the GDP drop and economic crisis in the newspapers. Under the UPA governments rule, Chidambaram as well as Manmohan Singh were the Finance Ministers and no such problems regarding economic crisis nor GDP drop was reported.
"Narendra Modi’s new economic policies have hit the lives of labour classes. Even merging of banks is taking place. The central government led by Narendra Modi is anti-labour and anti-farmer stated Shekhar.
"Narendra Modi had promised that he would bring back black money from Swiss bank and also more and more employment would be generated to the youth, but after the elections, Modi has failed to keep his word."
Balakrishna Shetty, secretary of CPIM said, "CPI activist and former JNU leader, Kanhaiya Kumar had been to Gulbarga University for a talk on B R Ambedkar. Even the vice-chancellor of the university had granted permission, but it was reported that he was not allowed to hold a talk at the university, as the Governor of Karnataka had denied this talk. Employees of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited from Bengaluru which consists of 17,000 employees conducted a protest and CPI always supports them. The central government has stolen the rights of the Kashmiri people by imposing Article 370. Communal issues are created throughout the nation and sympathy is being created by the central government to gain votes during election.
"There are 70,000 employees in BSNL. The salaries of some employees do not even exceed Rs 9,000 per month. The central government is trying to show that BSNL is under loss and is going to be shut down soon so that it would be profitable to Mukesh Ambani, the companion of Narendra Modi. Today, the main reason for so many protests throughout the nation is because people are not happy with the new policies and rules imposed by the BJP led central government."
Shekhar, CPI Secretary Udupi district, Suresh Kallagar, Balakrishna Shetty, secretary CPIM, KV Bhatt, CPIM leader, K Shankar, H Narasimha, Rajeev Padukone, Shashidhar Balla and Kaviraj S from CPI were present in the protest.
