Bengaluru: Minister D K Shivakumar's custody extended till October 25

Bengaluru, Oct 16: The judicial custody period of former Karnataka minister D K Shivakumar, was on Tuesday October 15, extended till October 25 as per the orders of a special CBI court at New Delhi. He is in judicial custody relating to money laundering case filed by the enforcement directorate.

Shivakumar has been in custody relating to relating to the said case since his arrest on September 3.

At the end of Shivakumar's custody period on Tuesday, enforcement directorate personnel produced him in the court and sought extension of his judicial custody term. Amit Mahajan, advocate, who represented the enforcement directorate in the court, informed the court that Shivakumar has filed for regular bail through the high court.

Shivakumar charged the officials of the prison of ill-treating him. He said that others in the jail were provided with chairs but he was not. He explained that he suffers from acute backache. The court, considering his plea, asked the jail authorities to provide him with a chair inside his prison cell.

The court also permitted family members of Shivakumar to meet him at the court lock-up.
