Udupi, Oct 7: A press meet was called in regard to the conclusion of Customer Outreach programme organised by Syndicate Bank, Golden Jubilee Hall, Manipal, on Sunday, October 6.
Bhaskar Hande, general manager of Syndicate Bank zonal office, Manipal, addressed media. He said, “The Customer Outreach programme was initiated by the central government and the top bank of the district gets the privilege to organize the programme. Hence, Syndicate Bank gets this privilege in Udupi. It is a 2-day programme where banking facilities, services and information are presented to the customers and citizens through PowerPoint presentations. All the citizens must have financial literacy as well as must be aware of banking products and thus a nation-wide programme is organised in 400 selected districts. This is the first phase of the programme and the programme is being organised in 400 districts.
“As many as 23 banks and 350 branches in Udupi district which comprises of nationalised banks, private banks, NBFC and co-operative banks took active part in the programme. Different forms of loans like Individual loan, vehicle loan, car loan, home loan, MSME loan, agriculture finance and consumer finance were distributed to the people in this programme. KYC details were collected and loans were provided only after proper verification and all the guidelines were followed. Loans were provided to the people in the festive season so that they could make most use of it.
“GDP growth is important and service sector contributes 54% to GDP. Keeping this in mind the programme was organised throughout the nation. Industrial loans were provided to the people and more focus was given on MSME loans as 45% of production and 40% of export takes place in MSME in our country and also 6 crore of employment is generated in this sector. Central as well as state government is focusing more in MSME said Bhaskar Hande. On October 5, agricultural loans were distributed to the people.
“As many as 1,302 account holders were given loans on October 5 and October 6 and Rs 103 crore were sanctioned to the account holders. Agricultural loans were given to 250 account holders and Rs 6.5 crore of amount was given. A total of 216 people were given housing loans and Rs 35 crore was given. As many as 140 account holders were given vehicle loans and Rs 8 crore was given whereas 105 students were given educational loans worth Rs 8.5 crore. As many as 195 people were given personal loans and Rs 16 crore was handed over to them. A total of 186 account holders were given MSME loans and Rs 20 crore was given and 161 account holders were given Rs 4 crore under Mudra Yojana. Around 1,500 people participated in the 2-day customer outreach programme.
“Syndicate Bank gave away Rs 32 crore loan amount to 440 account holders out of Rs 103 crore and is the leading among other banks. Canara Bank gave away Rs 6.5 crore of loan amount to 240 account holders and Karnataka Grameena Vikas Bank gave away loan amount of Rs 3.5 crores to 160 account holders. Loan applications from the account holders were accepted from a week in the respective banks. Syndicate Bank also gets the privilege to organize the customer outreach programme in Mangaluru as well as Belgavi districts as it tops even in those districts in the banking sector. As many as 1,710 account holders were given a loan of Rs 103 crore in Mangaluru and Syndicate Bank gave away Rs 23 crore to 604 account holders. Rs 26 crore of loan amount was given to 535 account holders in Belgavi district and Syndicate Bank gave away Rs 10 crore to 310 account holders,” he said.
More information regarding digital economy and cashless transactions were provided in the customer outreach programme. Central government sponsored Mudra Yojana and Stand UP India loans, PMAY, PMJDY and also details and information regarding Aadaar enrollment was provided to the people in this programme. Successful entrepreneurs addressed the people and also mentioned how these bank loans helped them.
