Bengaluru, Oct 4: Senior IPS officer Hemant Nimbalkar, appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) relating to the multi-crore scam in which thousands of investors were cheated by luring them with the offer of high returns.
Hemant came to the office of CBI on Ballari Road here on Thursday October 3 morning. He was questioned by the officers for two hours and recorded his statements.
The IMA scam had earlier been referred to criminal investigation department (CID) for probe. Hemant Nimbalkar was the inspector general of police of the CID then. There are allegations that he had given clean chit to IMA after collecting crores of rupees from main accused in the scam, Mansoor Khan.

The CBI officials have asked Hemant to provide other documents supplementary to the documents which the CBI officials have accessed.
Hemant, who is currently functioning as additional police commissioner, had been questioned by CBI officials once last week. They had served him notice for appearance again, duly asking him to provide certain documents.
