Addressing the gathering, Superintendent of Police B M Laxmi Prasad said, "We are more interconnected to the digital world and lot more dependent on modern things. Whenever a crime is committed, digital footprint is left behind, which is more valuable than the statement of witnesses.
"We should be very careful in using technology and at the same time we should know how to use it to prevent ourselves from committing a crime or being victim of a crime. Many forensic science experts do not know how to recover a file as they depend on software, which cannot always be relied upon. Forensic should not be limited to software alone, it should go much beyond it.
Principal of the School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, Juliet C J said, "This workshop will enable the students to be excellent professionals in Criminology and Forensic. The police department has continuously supported the students in terms of training and field placements which was an opportunity for the students to learn.
During the one-day workshop, sessions on Basics of Computers and Mobile Forensics, recent advancements in the field of Cyber Forensics and challenges faced by investigators were discussed.
Hands-on training in steganography, meta data analysis, password cracking and detection of email spoofing will be conducted in the workshop.
Assistant professor Criminology and Forensic Science, Amithesh V Shetty welcomed the gathering, Natasha and Suhas compered the event.
Head of department Criminology and Forensic Science, Dr Saritha D'Souza, Cyber Forensic expert Don Caeiro, Cyber Security analyst, Fardeen Ahmed and director of texial Cyber Security and Incognito Forensic Foundation, Suresh Kumar B were present.
