Bengaluru Ola driver ditches woman passenger on road at night

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SHP)

Bengaluru, Oct 3: On Monday, a senior manager in a software company had a rather unpleasant Ola experience when she was on her way back to her home from the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). On reaching India from her Colombo flight, the woman hired an Ola to take her to her Indiranagar home.

As per the woman, the Ola driver was taking a suspicious route than the one she advised him to take. The 32-year-old woman claimed the driver was not taking the usual route via tolled NH-44. He instead was driving towards the Begur Road. When the woman advised him to turn around and take the tolled road, the driver answered saying he would only follow the map. She repeatedly asked the driver to change the route as there is no highway and NH-44 is the right way.

Earlier, a Kolkata model had faced a similar fate which ended with her death. Recalling the incident and the eerie zone around her, the woman pressed the emergency button on the app. Meanwhile, the cab driver called his supervisor and claimed the woman was inebriated and hindering him from following the map.

It was then that the driver dropped the woman in the middle of nowhere at 3.30 am, one of the several incidents where the cab drivers have acted unprofessionally.

Moments later, the woman's friend came to pick her up after she called him and explained her ordeal.

On Monday evening, after the unfateful set of events, the woman submitted a statement at the KIA police station. Narrating her incident, the woman alleged that the driver did not even drop her back to the airport, instead, left her behind on the poorly lit highway. To escape an ill fate she pressed the emergency button, which followed a support call where they claimed to connect her to the supervisor but hung up soon after.

Realising the gravity of the situation, the Police have stated that they have asked Ola to not let the drivers take Begur Road for security concerns.

    Only one side of story.
To know the truth and for safety reasons, CCTV cameras
should be made compulsory in Taxis.

Nation should condemn the Ola drivre's act and blacklist this company. The most importatly law and order in the state and nation should be really tightened to avoid any untoward incident. Sometime police too take such incidents casually which gives confidence to the nuisance/culprit taxi, auto drivers to further their acts. People of Karnataka should protest to bank Ola cabs and severe punichments should be imposed on criminal drivers.

Horrible. Why these cabs have no authority over drivers. They are supposed to use connection to the centre all the time and not to misguide have to correct him.Horrible as a lonely woman at night to fall prey to these criminals.Police should take it seriously and cancel the licence when not operated as per rules. No Pardon.I only can advice in such instances for lonely women, kindly take a room in a hotel for a night and proceed next day home normal instead of falling in wrong hands.Such stories we heard many times.so police ,please take action.
