Mangaluru Sep 29: Police commissioner Dr P S Harsha inaugurated Navaratri Utsav and Dasara celebrations at Kudroli Gokarnanatheswara Temple on Sunday, September 29.
Speaking to media Dr P S Harsha said, “Mangaluru Dasara is celebrated in unique way and elaborate arrangement have been made for the smooth functioning of Dasara celebrations,”
Sharada idol was taken in a procession in grand manner with bands and Huli Vesha leading the procession. Sharada idol was installed by conducting various rituals. The idols of Navadurgas in various in carnations names Adhi Shakthi, Shaila Putri, Bhramacharini, Chandraganta, Kooshmandini, Skandamath, Kathyayini, Mahagowri and Siddidhatri were also installed.
Various rituals will be held during the 10 day long Navatri Utsav and also cultural events will also be held.
Dasara procession will be carried out on October 8 and the idol will be immersed in Kudroli lake on October 9. This time there are changes in the procession where Sharada idol along with Navadurga will lead the procession followed by other tableaux.
Treasurer Padmaraj R, Temple committee president H S Sairam, vice president Raghavendra Kuloor, secretary Madhav Suvarna, Trustees B K Tharanath, Ravishankar Mijar, K Maheshchandra, temple development committee co-president Urmila Ramesh Kumar among others were present.
