Bengaluru, Sep 28: Factionalism within the Congress has developed into a serious issue now. Original Congressmen have complained to the high command against Siddaramaiah. The Siddaramaiah faction in the meanwhile held a separate meeting and drew up its future plan of action.
It is gathered that veteran Congress leader, Mallikarjun Kharge, and a number of senior party leaders have complained to the high command, claiming that unilateral decisions taken by Siddaramaiah are proving to be detrimental to the interests of the party. The leaders have pointed out that Siddaramaiah has been taking all decisions in the state Congress, and therefore to achieve the revival of the party's prospects, changes should be made in the persons occupying the posts of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, leader of the Congress legislature party and leader of the opposition in the assembly.
It is learnt that state Congress in-charge, K C Venugopal, has brought to the notice of the high command about the charges levelled by K H Muniyappa and B K Hariprasad against the state leadership at the election committee meeting held on Thursday. Some have also objected to certain tweet made by Dinesh Gundu Rao's wife, Tabu Dinesh, relating to Congress affairs. Some leaders it is said, also questioned the authority based on which she commented on twitter about the party.
As the original Congressmen have been acquiring aggressive posture and K H Muniyappa and B K Hariprasad passed allegations openly, leaders close to Siddaramaiah held a meeting at his residence on Thursday night.
In the meanwhile, Dinesh Gundu Rao, agreed that there are factions within his party but refused to say how many. Speaking to media persons, he said that factions of minions, big persons, one-man army etc are there, but they can contribute to the growth of the party if they function on positive lines.
