Udupi: Jayakar Suvarna selected for Malabar Gold Award

Udupi, Sep 25: Well known photographer, Jayakar Suvarna, owner of Suvarna Studio is selected for Uppa-Malabar Gold Award which will be presented by Udupi Press Photographer’s Association as part of the World Photography Day.

Jayakar Suvarna has been serving in photography and the video sector for the last forty years. He started with black and white photography in the initial stages and switched over to colour photography now. He captures pictures of the elite as official photographer during their visit to Udupi and also provides pictures to various newspapers in the land. He had served as president of the working journalist’s association and shouldered several responsibilities in South Canara photographer’s association.

He works as a reporter with Doordarshan TV at present. He was the inspiration for innumerable people to get into the profession of photography. Several groups and associations have felicitated him. He and his wife Sandha have three children.

“Udupi press photographer’s association and Malabar gold will jointly confer ‘Chaya Spoorthi’ title on him at Malabar Gold showroom and felicitate him considering his greatness on Friday, World Tourism Day,” said Uppa convener Janardhan Kodavoor and Malabar gold’s Hafiz Rehman in a press release.
