Udupi, Sep 24: South Canara Photographers Association here, celebrated its 29th annual meet at Ammani Ramanna hall, in the city on September 21. The programme was inaugurated by MLA K Ragupathi Bhat.
On the occasion, Bhat said that he along with the elected MLAs from coastal Karnataka will strive for the establishment of Photographers' Association and send a report to the Karnataka government mentioning the objectives of the association.
Bhat also stated that he will try to convince the government and ensure that it provides good land for the association.
"It is good to see photographers from both Udupi and DK districts come together under the banner of South Canara Association. Problem-solving becomes much easier when an organization has more number of members." Bhat wished the organization to grow to a greater height in the coming days and ensured that the government is always there for its support. The photographers from South Canara Association have adapted to modern technology and made the utmost use of their creativity. They are famous in the field of photography today. Bhat remembered some photographers from south Canara districts who won international awards and congratulated them. Educational scholarships were given to the children of the association members.
The programme was presided over by Wilson George Gonsalves. Famous photographers Shekhar Karkala and Palaksha P Suvarna, Belthangady were honoured at the programme.
K Vasuyudeva Rao inaugurated the photography exhibition. Jayakar Shetty Indrali, general manager of Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, Vittal Chowta, president of SKPA suggestion committee, Venkatesh Kengal from Sindhanoor organization were the chief guests of the programme. Organisation secretary-general, Dayanand Bantwal, treasurer Sridhar Shettigar, members of the working committee Janardan Kodavoor, Harish Adyar, Devraj Shetty, Sudir Shetty, T V Sushil, Naveen Kumar, Praveen Correa, Lokesh, Prasad Isira, Suresh Kowdange, Praveen Kurkal, Ramprakash, Manindra, Tanunjay Rao, members of advisory committee, presidents from different zones were also present. Vice-president, Pramod Suvarna Kaup hosted the programme.
