Mangaluru, Sep 18: Dr Safwan Ahmed received the Doctor of Medicine (DM) degree in neurology from National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, at its 24th convocation ceremony held in NIMHANS convention Center. Dr Safwan Ahmed also received the best neurology resident doctor gold medal award from Central health cabinet minister Dr Harshwardhan and Karnataka state CM B S Yediyurappa. The ceremony was also attended by Member of Parliament P C Mohan and member of Rajya Sabha Rajiv Gowda.
Dr Safwan Ahmed is the son of late Ahmed Hussain and Tasneem Hussain. Dr Safwan has been a meritorious student. Upon successfully completing his MBBS from KMC Mangaluru, he pursued his MD in General Medicine from Mysore Medical College. He had earlier secured first rank in NIMHANS entrance exam for DM Neurology.
Dr Safwan has now joined Mangaluru’s Father Muller's Medical College and Hospital as a consultant and assistant professor in the department of Neurology. He is married to Dr Fathima Raees, who is pursuing her PG in radiology at KMC, Mangaluru, a unit of Manipal Academy of Health Education.
