Panaji, Jul 13: Shantaram Naik, MP, will raise the issue of idol desecration in parliament, next week. Naik expressed his anguish at the fact that the incidents of idol desecration are going on unchecked, despite the best efforts being made by the policemen to trace the culprits.
Naik said, although the concerned matter is a state subject, there appears to be a larger conspiracy of which, the Indian parliament should also be made aware of.
Shantaram Naik, who had come to Goa for the week end after attending the parliament session, before leaving back for New Delhi on Sunday July 12, visited Mahalakshmi Temple at Girdolim where, last week, a clay idol inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Shree Mahalakshami Temple, had been broken by the miscreants.
Naik was accompanied by general secretary of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Altinho Gomes, Augustin Antao, Arvind Bhise, Shankar Madgut, Sandeep Kaleka, Prasad Khandeparkar and Rohidas Naik.
