Mangaluru, Sep 16: Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Sindhu B Rupesh, through an order, has permitted movement of light vehicles on Charmadi Ghat road, which had remained off limits since the last some months, between 6 am and 6 pm. She has restrained movement of all kinds of heavy vehicles on this road till October 14.
The lifting of restriction has come into effect from 6 am on September 15. Cars, jeeps, tempos, vans, light carriage vehicles, mini vans, two-wheelers and ambulances have been permitted to use this road. However, the road will be off limits for all kinds of vehicles from 6 pm to 6 am.
The light vehicles have been asked to tread this stretch of this road cautiously, duly ensuring that the speed limit of the vehicle is maintained at not more than 20 km per hour. At the time, photography and clicking of selfies has been banned in the Ghat region.
Bullet tankers, ship cargo containers, long chassis vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles, multi axle trucks, truck trailers, buses and all heavy goods transport vehicles will have to stay away from using this road for a month from September 15.
