Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SB)
Mangaluru, Sep 15: Daijiworld readers have always demonstrated their benevolent gesture in helping the needy people wholeheartedly whenever we have highlighted the dismal condition of such people and families and the financial help they need to overcome their troubles. This time too, Daijiworld readers have risen to the occasion and helped a family in need.
Last month, Daijiworld had published the story of Ashwin D’Souza, a 20-year-old youth residing in Kokkada who met with a road accident. The impact of the accident was such that Ashwin was thrown on the road. Good Samaritans rushed him to K S Hedge hospital. He was in the ICU for five days and had to undergo various surgeries which cost his family more than Rs two lac. Ashwin had sustained serious injuries on his leg and back bone and later he underwent more surgeries and treatment to lead a normal life. It cost him nearly Rs five lac. Presently, he has to visit the hospital every month and has to take regular medicines.
After reading Ashwin’s plight, our readers pooled in and contributed about Rs seven lac to the family which was badly in need of financial help for his treatment.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Ashwin’s mother and family members have expressed their gratitude to the donors for their munificence and said that the family will always cherish the kind gesture exhibited by our readers. The contribution brought a ray of hope in the life of Ashwin and his family members. Though Ashwin cannot move out from the bed for at least two years, the generosity of people from various corners of the world made Ashwin recover from pain and wounds. They acted like angels of God who came to the rescue of Ashwin.
The family of Ashwin has also thanked the members of Indian Catholic Youth Movement and Catholic Sabha for their timely help.
Daijiworld thanks its esteemed readers for responding positively for the cause. We hope our readers would continue to respond positively in our efforts to assuage the problems of the less privileged or those who are in dire need.
