Udupi, Sep 10: Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel was welcomed in a grand manner by Udupi district BJP. This was Kateel’s first visit to Udupi after becoming the new BJP president. The felicitation programme was held at Sheshagiri hall, Hotel Kediyur on Tuesday, September 10.
Minister for Muzrai, Harbour and Fisheries Kota Srinivas Poojary, Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, and other BJP leaders felicitated Nalin Kumar.
Acknowledging the felicitation, Kateel said, “I have faced many challenges during my tenure as MP, but yet people have elected me for the third consecutive term in Dakshina Kannada. The honour bestowed on me by the party, has increased my responsibility. I will dedicate this honour to my party workers. I have grown from a booth level worker to state president in BJP party,”
“BJP works towards bringing positive changes in the country. Progressive India was a dream of Swami Vivekananda. I never expected to become a state level leader. A common man can also occupy great position and it happens only in BJP,” said Kateel.
“Union government led by Modi, revoked Article 370 of the constitution that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir. BJP will not compromise with its thoughts and principles. India is getting recognition at a global level and only BJP has made this possible,” he said.
“I have accepted the position of state BJP president after putting a lot of thought. This post requires the person to work hard. Assembly election will come in three years. The BJP will get 150 seats without any doubt. I will not cheat anybody, who has kept trust in me. I will work for the development of the state as well as nation,” said Kateel.
Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “Nalin was a common party worker and now he is the state BJP president. The BJP gives opportunities to its workers to prove themselves. Nalin was brought up in Sangha Parivar and he worked for the people. That is how BJP recognizes its party workers.”
Sunil Kumar said, “We are brought up in V S Acharya’s ‘garadi’ (school). We need a state president who addresses the grievances of the general public. Modi has completed 100 days in his second term and implemented many bills. Modi’s moves are not against people.”
Taunting former Dakshina Kannada DC Sasikanth Senthil’s resignation, Sunil said, “If a DC resigned opposing Modi’ existing policies, what will he do when future policies are introduced? Will he commit suicide?”
“Today people of this country are in agreement with Modi governance and are appreciating the government policies. Modi government is working towards strengthening democracy. Senthil’s resignation shows his mentality. In days to come, we will enter Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Do not raise questions against Modi. Your resignation won’t stop Modi from taking his decisions,” he said.
As part of the felicitation, a shobhayathra was held from Jodukatte. Nalin Kumar was taken out in a procession in a decorated vehicle. BJP leaders received him from Hejamadi.
