Mangaluru, Sep 10: The fourth additional district and sessions court here, which heard a case relating to stabbing Muhammed from Mura to death on October 7, 2015 on Kavoor Ambikanagar Mura road, exonerated all the accused of the charges. Abdul Nasir, Muhammed Imran, and Kalandar had been accused of committing the said murder.

Main accused, Abdul Nasir and his family had bought land belonging to Muhammed at Mura and had settled down in that property since the last 25 years. The families of Nasir and Muhammed had a long-standing quarrel on the right of way to property. A complaint had also been filed in Kavoor police station relating to this issue.

Abdul Nasir had a strong feeling that Muhammed used to give him ugly stares and pass derisive comments. When Muhammed was walking by the said road on October 7, 2015, Muhammed contacted neighbours of Nasir, Imran and Qalandar Shaffi over phone, and asked them to come to the spot. It was alleged that the trio waited at Mura Junction for the arrival of Muhammed, and attacked him on his arrival with knife and cudgel, resulting in the said murder.

Kavoor police, who had registered the case, had arrested the accused and filed charge sheet.

Judge of the fourth additional district and sessions court, T P Ramalinge Gowda, who heard arguments presented by both the sides, arrived at the opinion that the prosecution had failed to conclusively prove the charges.

The accused were represented by advocates, Venukumar and Yuvaraj K Ameen.
