Bengaluru: IPS officer Madhukar Shetty death - Panel fails to resolve mystery

Bengaluru, Sep 10: The mystery surrounding the death of IPS officer from state Dr Madhukar Shetty, one of the most efficient officers the state has ever seen, continues to persist. A panel of specialist doctors formed by the state government to look into the issue has failed to arrive at a definite conclusion.

Madhukar Shetty had breathed his last at Continental Hospital, Hyderabad, due to ill health on December 28, 2018. His wife had expressed suspicion about the death of Shetty. On that basis, the state government had formed a committee of specialist doctors led by Dr Devi Shetty. The committee which inquired into the death of Shetty, prepared its report based on medical records furnished to the team by Continental Hospital. Its preliminary report has been furnished to the state government now.

The team said that for want of evidences, it is not in a position to outright come to the conclusion that there was deficiency or negligence in the method of treatment extended to Madhukar Shetty. It also expressed the opinion that there is a need to undertake probe further.
