Mangaluru: Carmel School observes day of 'Girl Child', celebrates Nativity

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 7: The feast of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary and the day of Girl Child was celebrated by Carmel School on September 7 at the school auditorium.

The School Community got together as a family around the eucharistic table of the Lord to thank God for the fruits of labour and for all the blessings He has showered upon us, on our land and the people.

The eucharistic celebration was offered by Fr Flavian Lobo.

In India the birthday of blessed mother Mary is dedicated to the 'Girl child' and the programme that was planned to integrate both the festivals by class IX C was commendable.

The solemn occasion was graced by Sister Sarika the principal, Sister Rose Agnes the administrator, Sister Gracy, vice principal. The programme was initiated with a creative prayer dance and prayer service emphasizing the virtues of mother Mary— Humility, total adherence to the will of God, self-sacrifice and unconditional love.

A welcome dance created rhythmic thrills of sheer excellence. Students enacted a skit highlighting the birth and life of mother Mary. A dance drama that ensued increased awareness of the inequality faced by girls worldwide based upon their gender and raised awareness on the importance of nurturing girls globally and empowering them that left the audience spellbound.

Sister Gracy, the vice principal then addressed the gathering.

Marzooka, Vinutha, Sinchana, Gunjan Singh, Ramya compered the programme. Gayathri Shetty delivered the welcome speech and Farah Zainaba proposed the vote of thanks.
