Mangaluru, Sep 7: As part of Saavayava Saptaha, the Bioscience association of St Aloysius College organised a workshop on grafting techniques and identification of organic vegetables followed by an exhibition on organic products on September 4.
The programme began with an inauguration held at Sanidhya hall. The esteemed guests were Anil Balanja, an organic farmer and Shiva Prakash, expert in the field of biology.
Anil Balanja rendered his guest lecture on hybrid, terrace gardening and grafting.
The presidential address was delivered by Dr John D'Silva, director of Xavier block. He motivated all the students to be ecofriendly. The programme was inaugurated by sowing organic seeds in organic soil.
Rashmi K introduced the speaker and welcomed the gathering.
Dr Sana Sheikh delivered the vote of thanks.

The inauguration was followed by a workshop for which the resource speaker on grafting techniques was Anil Balanja. He stressed on topics related to air layering, bud grafting. Resource person Shiva Prakash spoke on identification of organic vegetables. Around 60 participants attended the workshop.
For savayava organic exhibition, around 27 teams of participants, over 110 students exhibited organic products such as organic vegetables, cereals, medicinal plants, herbal products, ointments, sanitizers, mosquito repellants, coconut shell crafts, wooden toys, combustion furnace, oils, soaps, face packs, dream catchers, key chains and many more.
