Bengaluru, Sep 7: On Friday September 6, the state high court (HC) expressed surprise at the fact that the court summons sent too Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna's address had not yet been delivered to him.
"What does it mean if you say that an MP does not have a proper address? If this is the situation relating to members of parliament, what we can expect about common people?" questioned the state high court.
Defeated BJP candidate from Hassan, A Manju, had filed petition in the court seeking to declare the election of Prajwal Revanna to Lok Sabha from Hassan constituency as null and void, pointing out that he had provided false information in the affidavit filed when filing nomination papers. The high court observed that even after so much time, the summons was not delivered to Prajwal. The application was filed through advocate G Devaraje Gowda.
The single judge bench of the HC presided over by Justice John Michel D Cunha, which heard the election petition stated above, took the district judge of Hassan to task for non-delivery of summons. It also permitted the petitioners to issue press publication about the HC having issued court summons to MP Prajwal Revanna.
