Bengaluru, Sep 6: Rs 30 lac was collected for the victims of the recent deluge in the state that affected many districts in the state, including the Dakshina Kannada district, by Primary Milk Producers' associations, directors of Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers' Union (DKMU) and the employees of DKMU, who donated a day’s salary for the cause.
The cheque for Rs 30 lac was handed over to chief minister of the state B S Yediyurappa by the team of Raviraj Hegde, president of DKMU, Prakashchandra Shetty, vice president, Dr G V Hegde, managing director, Kaup Divakar Shetty, Narayana Prakash, Padmanabha Shetty Arcaje, Sudhakar Rai, Narasimha Kamath, Smita Shetty and Savita Shetty, all directors of the union on September 4.
DKMU has also provided feed for the cattle of milk producers of Mundaje and Mittabagilu areas of Beltangady taluk, who were severely affected by the flood. 9,000 liters of Trupti milk, which has shelf life of 90 days and 650 bed sheets worth Rs 5.12 lac was also provided by the union to the flood victims of North Karnataka region.
