Mangaluru: Eight persons found gambling in lodge apprehended

Mangaluru, Sep 6: Police personnel attached to the city (east) raided Kumar International Lodge at Bendoorwell in the city on Thursday September 5, and arrested eight persons who were found to be gambling there. 

The raid was conducted on the basis of reliable information. The police confiscated about Rs 49,340 in cash, a Maruti Baleno car, three two-wheelers, ten cell phones and some items used by the gamblers for playing the game. 

The arrested persons happen to be Praveen (41) from Kalkara House, Bajal in the city, Naveen (35) living near church, Krishnanagar, Thokkottu, Permannur village, Naveen Alva (39) living at Panjara House, Talapady village and post, Basheer (52), living at Sufikana House, Alekala, Ullal, Sathish (33), residing at Kandev House, Saripalla, Neermarga, Vijay Kumar (38), living at Sujeer House, Pudu village and post, Bantwal taluk, Bhaskar (45), resident of Sundari Bagh, Masthikatte, Ullal, and Akash (31), Thimmappa Nilaya, Capitanio, Maroli village. 

The operation was conducted by Kadri police inspector, Shantaram and police sub-inspector, Maruti S V along with other staff under the guidance of city police commissioner, Dr Harsha, deputy police commissioners, Arunankshugiri and Laxmi Ganesh, and assistant commissioner, Bhaskar Vakkaliga, a press release stated.
