Kundapur, Aug 28: Investigation was held on Monday, August 26 on the complaint that was brought to the notice of the sub-divisional officer by a senior citizen, who accused his son of keeping him under house arrest in the old age home, where he is residing at present.
Manjunatha Jogi, a resident of Hiriadka, who is admitted as an inmate in one of local old age homes is the person who has raised a complaint about his harassment. Acting upon his complaint, Ganesh Marathe, welfare officer of senior citizen visited the old age home and collected information.
In his complaint, Manjunatha Jogi said, "My son, who is residing in Mangaluru has instructed the administrative officials of the old age home, where I have joined as inmate on July 10, to keep me under house arrest. He has given my own house in Hiriadka on rent. I want to go to my own house. Kindly vacate the tenant and facilitate me to reside in my own house."
Giving the clarification to the welfare officer, the concerned officials of the old age home said, "We have not put Manjunatha Jogi under any kind of house arrest. We only told him not to go near the highway as a safety precaution. He has gone to the post office today also for his personal work."
The investigating officer, who gathered the information with regards to the complaint, gave instructions to the concerned authority of the old age home about certain rules that need to be followed by the people managing the old age home. Further inquiry will be done after the investigating officer submits the information of investigation and report to the sub-divisional officer.
