Bengaluru, Aug 27: The government led by chief minister B S Yediyurappa is being criticized in the political circles of the state as a half government, though there are 17 cabinet ministers.
To a certain extent the saying is true as B S Yediyurappa has retained more than half the portfolios with him, in addition to being the Chief Minister of the state. He has 22 portfolios under his custody. So invariably he is the minister for these departments also.
There are 45 portfolios in the government of CM Yediyurappa. However, he has distributed only 23 out of them to 17 cabinet ministers. Rest 22, including the major portfolios of finance, energy and Bengaluru development are retained by the CM.
At present, apart from being the CM of the state, B S Yediyurappa is the minister for finance, intelligence, energy, Bengaluru development, water resources, medical education, city development, agriculture, forest, sugar, cooperative, small scale industries, minority, backward community welfare, youth services and sports, information and public relations, food and civil supplies, labour, horticulture, silk, civic administration, skill development and Inland water transport departments.
