Udupi: Kota Srinivas Poojary appointed fisheries, ports minister

Udupi, Aug 27: Srinivas Poojary hailing from the coastal region is appointed new minister of Karnataka government fisheries, ports and inland transport. Dakshina Kannada district cooperative fish marketing federation president Yashpal Suvarna welcomed the move.

He expressed his gratitude to the chief minister B S Yediyurappa for having considered the long pending demand by fishermen of the coastal region that both the fisheries and ports portfolios should be entrusted to somebody from the region who has knowledge of fisheries.

Kota Srinivas Poojary who served as minister of fisheries in the past knows the problems of fishermen from a close distance. The fisheries department has high expectations from him. “The fishermen are hopeful that the union ministry of fisheries and the state government will jointly implement schemes to fulfill the demands of fishermen,” he said in the press release.
