Mangaluru: Man found guilty of murder sentenced to life imprisonment

Mangaluru, Aug 27: In a case in which a man had murdered his own friend by hacking him with lethal weapon, the district chief and sessions court handed down life term rigorous imprisonment to him after holding the accused guilty of the murder charge.

The person held guilty of murder was Jaya Madiwala (42), from Devasa House in Shirtady village in the taluk.

Jauya Madiwala had been accused of murdering his friend Shekhar Poojary (52), from Pachchady House in Kaje, Shirtady on October 2, 2018, by hitting him with sharp weapon. The murder charge was proved and order finding Madiwala guilty was passed on Monday August 26.

A total of 25 witnesses were examined in the case. However, circumstantial evidences proved to be crucial in holding the accused guilty.

Initially, pubic prosecutor, Pushparaj Adyantaya, had represented the prosecution in the case. In later days, Raju Poojary Bannady had placed arguments.
