Kasargod, Aug 27: Decennial celebrations of Snehalaya Charitable Trust were held on Monday, August 26. Dr Jerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese was the main celebrant of the thanksgiving holy mass that was offered in the chapel of the center.
In his homily, the bishop, stressed on the importance of caring the poor and destitute. He appealed to the people to have more social concern and to be generous towards fellow human beings. Priests from Mangaluru diocese, nuns and devotees attended the Mass.
The formal stage programme started at 11.15 am. Br Joseph Crasta welcomed the guests with plants and gave a briefing about Snehalaya. Fr Ignatius Monteiro delivered a message about his experience at Snehalaya and said, “It is very difficult for an individual to form an institution. However, when ten hands join together, it becomes easy and the goal is achieved. So it is my kind request to all generous people to strengthen the hands of Joseph."
Snehalaya had conducted 17 competitions for the residents. The winners were encouraged by giving away prizes. Prize distribution was done by Bishop Dr Jerald Isaac Lobo. At present, 44 staff are working for Snehalaya. They were honoured by giving token of love by the bishop.
Bishop Dr Jerald Isaac Lobo was felicitated by the trustees of Snehalaya. In his message the Bishop said, “Joseph Crasta is only an instrument of God. He is led by the divine spirit. Almighty knows the burdens and problems of his creatures. He decides how to help them. Here he has chosen Joseph to take care of his creatures. Snehalaya is rendering service without any bias of caste and religion. We all know the charity works of this institution. We are proud to say that such institution is situated in our surroundings. I congratulate Joseph and his team for the completion of ten successful years of service and wish them a bright future.” The Bishop said that Joseph is the right person to be honoured and felicitated Br Joseph Crasta.
Jacintha rendered the vote of thanks. The programme ended with lunch. Gio D’Silva Agrar compered the programme.
