Udupi, Aug 27: The house of Pomma Sherigarthi, Pejamangur, Kokkarne panchayat limits was completely damaged in the recent heavy rains. MLA K Raghupathi Bhat who obtained Rs 95,000 as first instalment of compensation on his recommendation, personally handed over the cheque to the victim. Chief minister Yediyurappa had announced Rs five lac compensation to those who lost their houses. MLA Raghupathi Bhat swiftly prepared the report and handed over the amount. He said that he will take initiative to obtain the second instalment.
Kokkarne gram panchayat president Ashalatha, members Vasanth Servegar, Jayanth Poojary, Kokkarne Shambhu master, Santhosh Kumar Sooral, Brahmavar tahsildar Kiran Gorayya, revenue officer Narayan Bhat, Sadananda Sooral, Udaya Devadiga and party activists were present.
The MLA issued in his office under natural calamity fund, cheques to seventeen flood victims in Brahmavar on Monday, August 26. Cheques worth Rs 6,19,702 were issued to flood victims in Havanje, Herur, handadi, Hosur, Kudi, Arur, Neelavara, Cherkady and Pejamangur villages. Title deeds under 94CC were issued to seven beneficiaries in Uppoor, Baikady, Havanje and Nalkaru village,
Brahmavar tahsildar Kiran Koraya, revenue officer Laxminarayana, taluk panchayat members Sudhir Kumar Shetty, Aroor gram panchayat president Rajiv Kulal and respective panchayat members were present.
The MLA also issued cheques worth Rs 10,80,200 to 29 beneficiaries in Badagabettu, Moodanidambur, Ambalapadi, Herga, Shivalli and Puttur.
Tahsildar Pradeep Kurdekar, Taluk panchayat executive Keshava Shettigar, revenue officer, village accountant, councillor Girish and Santhosh, Ambalpady panchayat president Pramod Salian, Dawood Aboobacker and others were present.
